Stonyhill Bowls Club is a large indoor sports facility at Herongate on the south side of Brentwood in Essex. The fully-accessible club is one of 18 in the county and it offers excellent facilities for members of all abilities.
The purpose-built club was created in 1994 and it shares a picturesque rural setting with a neighbouring golf club off the A128, close to the A127 Southend Arterial Road and less than four miles from the M25.
The club has seven full-size rinks and also provides facilities for short mat bowls. In 2009, it hosted a major international tournament to celebrate the English Short Mat Bowling Association’s 25th anniversary.
The club is one of 6,000 nationwide registered with the Government as a Community Amateur Sport Club (CASC) and under this scheme, it is available for all members of the community. New members are always welcome to join the thriving and competitive club which provides an opportunity to play at all levels, from domestic to county and national.
Stonyhill is managed by a board of six directors, supported by a committee of 14 members, and it employs four members of staff. It is affiliated to the English Indoor Bowling Association, Essex County Indoor Bowling Association, Essex County Ladies Indoor Bowling Association, and London and Southern Counties Bowling Association.
